Pub Quiz this Sunday

April 13, 2010

Eire Og Seville is organising a fundraising table quiz this coming Sunday (April 18th) in Merchants Malt House bar in Seville city centre. The event is being organised to raise funds for our trip to the Iberian Championships in Madrid next month, and to raise awareness of ‘futbol Gaelico’ and Andalucia’s newest, Irish-est sports team at the same time.

For people not familiar with the table quiz / pub quiz format, teams of four people sit together around a table and write down their answers to general knowledge questions. The judges collect each teams’ answers after each round of questions and the team with the most correct answers at the end wins. It’s simple really. It is a bit like the board game Trivial Pursuit, only much more fun as it takes place in a bar.

Sunday’s quiz will have nine rounds of ten questions, on themes such as sport, current affairs, Irish culture, Andalucian culture, arts and literature and science and nature. Questions will be called out in English and Spanish. It is a good opportunity for people familiar with the pub quiz format to see who is the smartest, and also for those less familiar to practice their English and learn more about Irish culture.

Anyone interested in taking part is welcome to come to Merchants Irish bar at 5PM this Sunday – April 18th. Merchants is located on Calle Canalejas between Plaza del Armas and the city centre (click here for a map showing you where it is). It costs €10 for a team of four to enter, and there will be prizes for the winning team. See you there on Sunday.
